This is an amazing story about Roxy who went from near death to 9 months of rehab to finding a new forever home for Christmas! Roxy was abandoned in a home when her family up and left her. They were being evicted and chose to leave her behind, the landlord did not want Roxy and did nothing to help her, the neighbors would feed Roxy through a hole in the fence. One of the rescues we work with in Texas "Rescue Lane" pulled Roxy from the horror she was living, Roxy was skin and bones. After months of nourshiment Roxy found a new home however after 3 months Roxy's behavior changed in a bad way. Rescue Lane had to take her back but was in need of an immediate foster with experience with behavior and medical conditions in dogs and that's where we come in. We got Roxy transported from Texas up to one of our experienced Board members in West Virginia. Once we got Roxy we found out she was double dosed with flea, tick and heartworm prevention which filled Roxy full of toxins causing the behavioral turn. We also leanred she was heartworm positive. Our Board member Tim worked with Roxy for 9 months detoxing her and working with her behavior around people and other dogs and cats. He took her to her vet appointments, through the process Roxy improved and her behavior changed and her health improved she became a healthy happy dog and was cleared by the vet and ready for her new forever home. Roxy was transported back to Texas to Rescue Lane where they found her a new forever home and family, Roxy was adopted at Christmas 2019. Sometimes it takes time and team work to save a life but every second is worth it! We are so happy and proud of Roxy! Thank you Tim for all you did for Roxy!
Petey Chomper's story is a complicated one that ended with being rehomed by us by the perfect new Dad and at the perfect time. Petey had a different name when he came to us. He was named after his owner's favorite drink but when his owner was arrested she could no longer keep him so a friend took him who in return couldn't keep him either so he reached out to us for help with a new home. We had Petey fully vetted and within 24 hours of networking Petey he found a new forever home! We transported Petey up to his new home and family in Virginia where he fitted right in and enjoying life but what makes this rehoming amazing is his new Dad lost his dog within in days of Petey's arrival to cancer. Petey helped his new Dad and other dog heal and push forward. To date Petey and his new family have bonded with amazing love and happiness. This truly is about "timing is everying".
Murphy was a dog walking client of ours for over a year from 2018 to 2019 however Murphy needed a home where he could grow and use his skills and what no better place then a farm! We found Murphy a new home in Massachuets on a farm! He even has is own chicken! Murphy has grown so much and uses his skills to help with firewood. He loves long days working on the farm and playing at the beach with his friends. He loves the snow! We miss Murphy but so happy to see Murphy evolve into the awesome dog he is.
In February 2019 we were contacted in helping with a rehoming for a Lab puppy in South Carolina. The current owner was not able to keep the puppy so we agreed to take the puppy into our rescue and find her a new forever home which didn't take long. Ella was cleared with a clean health record and ready for travel. On March 22, 2019 we drove Ella to her new forever home in Massachuetts. We are so happy to see her grow and enjoy her new home and family. We want to thank the previous owner for reaching out and wanting the best for Ella and to her new forever family!
Ralphie was rescued by us in July along with all his brothers and sisters and Mom. Within a month everyone was adopted but Ralphie. After a failed meet and greet where another larger dog attacked Ralphie he became very timid. Another month went by and no interest for him and another month nothing. We trained Ralphie that he would sit for treats, walk on a leash, house trained, crate trained, got along with cats and other dogs his size or smaller, loves car rides and most of all loves his blanket and still no interest. After a few months of no interest the owner of RTWC adopted Ralphie. She could see a special talent in Ralphie and they became best buddies. Ralphie is in training to be an Ambassador for anti bullying. Ralphie goes on long transports from SC to MD with us and his sister Opal. He is such a fun silly dog with manners says his new forever Mom. Congrats to Ralphie and his new journey in living the good life!
This is Lincoln Brown formerly Lil Brown, he is the son of Felicia. They spent 8 months together in the county shelter. His story is much the same as his mother Felicia and he too got his spirits and happiness back! We rescued and transported him to his new forever home in New York where he doing great with his new family. We are so happy and thankful to have been his rescue and giving him a new chance at a wonderful life! (to read more of his story visit his Mom's page Felicia)
Felicia formerly known as Freda spent 8 months in the county shelter along with her one year old son. They were in the shelter due to their owners were on trial for non violent felony criminal charges so once the trial was over and they agreed to owner surrender her and her son they then became available for rescue. Another rescue pulled her and her son one day and then returned them to the shelter the very next morning, they said they were too aggressive. I made a phone call to April who in return got us a foster and we pulled them from the shelter the day they were to be euthanized. Since that time we had her fully vetted, spayed, groomed and worked with her daily but within three days of having her with us she did a complete 180! She was running around playing with the other dogs, eating with the others dogs, liked our cats, loved to go out in the back yard and sit in the sun, went for walks on a leash, we got her house trained and crate trained and she loves baths. Her little spirit and happiness had returned. We were so happy to have a wonderful lady come visit her, the meet and greet went great she warmed right up to the lady. She was adopted! She has made a new friend with their dog and she is doing great in her new home! We are so grateful to have been able to be a part of Fellicia's new journey!
