We picked up Bear from his current foster in Little River, SC at 8:00AM and headed three hours North to his new foster in Zebulon, NC for Cathy's Rottie Rescue. While we heading North on 74 West we spotted a Beagle in the middle of the highway walking around then it laid down. We immediately pulled over to help the dog. He was super friendly, no injuries or apparent health issues. He appeared to be trained and healthy. We got a leash from our transport supplies and put him on a leash walked him out of the road and put him in the grass on the other side of our truck to protect him from the highway. We called 911 to get the number for the local animal control to come help. After no cooperation from the Columbus County Animal Control Center which we have transported from several time we drove the dog 13 miles to the shelter, we hated to do that but we were not going to leave him on the highway. We have posted his pictures and the details of location, time and the dog on the Lost & Found sites and reached out to several rescues and fosters to help him if no owner steps up to claim him. We do have fosters lined up for him. We got back on the road and reached our destination in Zebulon. Bear did an awesome job during his transport. We want to thank everyone involved in this transport and for the continued wide spread assistance for the highway Beagle.
